Description

To be honest I enjoyed reading his POV but all the character development from book one just seemed to disappear. I was just telling Chelsea that I had opened up a document to review this beauty and that it was such a daunting task because for as much as I am A COMPLETE STAN for SJM, I hardly ever, properly review her books. I love them so much but SO much goes on that all that is in my head afterwards are these threads of jumbled flailing that I can hardly untangle so far as to get a coherent thought that isn’t just straight up screaming out. Hunt Athalar is a notorious Fallen angel, now enslaved to the Archangels he once attempted to overthrow. His brutal skills and incredible strength have been set to one purpose—to assassinate his boss’s enemies, no questions asked. But with a demon wreaking havoc in the city, he’s offered an irresistible deal: help Bryce find the murderer, and his freedom will be within reach. Ruhn’s storyline wasn’t exactly what I looked forward to in Book 2, but I looked forward to Ruhn and Agent Daybright’s scenes. i liked the whole urban fantasy aspect of the first book, how it felt like an actual city and there was an atmosphere to it, but in this book i didn’t get any of that at all because the characters were constantly running around doing random shit in ‘realms’ that shouldn’t even exist smh

In House of Sky and Breath’s last chapter, Amren noticed the Starsword and nodded to Azriel’s knife, Truth-Teller, at his side. Second, if we don't get an Avengers level team up in this book I'm suing for getting my hopes up. That ending killed and then revived me and I don't know how I'm going to wait for this. bryce came to this world knowing that she wanted to come to hel, so I'm assuming there was a reason behind this wrong portal opening, unless she could have go directly to hel and find Aidas(and that's makes me Sus whether Aidas is in danger or some thing is wrong with him, because know that another prince of hell that i don't remember his face 💀 was in his form) This book stressed me. I can't even count the number of times I had to put it down and walk away for a minute because I was scared to read what happened next. Every time I thought I knew where the story was going, a whole other layer of complications and magic and worldbuilding was added to the mix. It was a rollercoaster in every way.The House of Sky and Breath book was as big as the House of Earth and Blood. Despite being a second book, it still had a lot of information dumping and world-building. hunt x ruhn (brother in law romance 😍) (anyway how ruhn continuously warms up to hunt bEcAusE hEs wItH bRyCe mhm sure keep telling yourself that) i loved them in the first book and their character development was really good and now it’s like sjm thinks she can just stop writing them well because they already had enough character development in the previous book. well, that’s not how it works. they are boring now and all they do is talk about having sex. their relationship is bland and i don’t even ship them anymore. i liked them in hoeab because they were friends first and then slowly grew to trust each other and be one another’s safe space and now they’re just oH sO pOWERfuL royalty bitches. they’re not an interesting couple, they have no chemistry or individual character development or relationship development and i don’t like how hunt is all possessive alpha male bullshit ok bye also i might be done with sjm but some of y’all aren’t ready for that conversation bc she’s basically just doing fan service at this point

Spoiler Alert* While I will be putting any straight up spoilers in spoiler bars, please be warned that I may still infer things in my normal review that could still spoil things for you. Proceed with caution! Bryce found the knife, yes, but since in HOEAB it was established that this two blades/knifes(truth teller and starsword) had to be reunited so the fae can be reunited as well, it makes me think of similarly the wyrdkeys (from TOG, alien has to find them from another dimensions and all) one of the knifes is in prythian. Update 9 march 2023: oh oh, so we finally got the RELEASE DATE Y'ALL. you heard me. It's really happening in 2024😭😭 it's a relief to know even not sure (which actually i think it's the real date) aproximatly how many days we will have this in our hand. 🤩🤩 We waste so much time. Maybe it's our curse as immortals. To see time as a luxury, a never-ending ocean."

More in Books

There are plenty of reveals in this book that I think are meant to be surprising but they all just fall flat. Some are quite obvious. Others are not, simply because they come out of left field and seem very random.

Sarah knows the title but can’t say it yet. The same cover artist who designed HoEaB will be doing CC2’s cover this is because the arc of Bryce and hunt shows how different they romanticize mates, and if that had continued in HOSAB, I would have assumed this is the casual mating bond we know. Instead, we see Bryce and hunt choosing the word "mate" for their relationship, and as the relationship grows, they became true mates. and beyond the beautiful fact that they choose each other before a biological function pulling them together, Bryce and hunt seem to have a power that, together makes them incredibly power. The quote I pointed out, doesn't it just come to embody this series as a whole? We don't know how much time we have with the people we love, so why not make the most of every single moment we do have? They change, the adapt, they live, they die... but they never leave you. People drift. It's human nature to move on, change and grow. But our favorite characters are always right there on a bad day. A good one. A weird one. A sad one.

i liked it better when bryce was a messy person who had everyone see her as a shallow party girl so that they wouldn’t see the hurt inside her from losing her best friend (lover) and to keep this in mind that this will be the finale, I think we are going to spend a brief time in prythian, and this crossover thing is something that I'm pretty sure with the proof of TOG, sjm had truly set up her world for this crossovers, and it does make sense. we have to wait and see what Queen sjm has for us, one thing I know is that she is the queen of satisfying plot twist and CC3 will be nothing short of masterpiece. 😉🙇‍♀️ Azriel better get involved in the plot and team up with Ruhn because his dagger clearly is the one that's meant to be with Ruhn's sword. AND he also controls shadows. Fury and Amren are related or have similar powers or are of the same species (they basically act the same and no one knows what Fury can actually do). Are they one of the Asteri's creations??? Like how the Asteri made the angels and mentioned creating prototypes for the angels in the previous world which I assume is what the Illyrians are????? Where Amren and Fury creations of theirs in another world?? It's clear that Sjm Technically confirmed that she'll be working on CC3 in her cc2 world tour, and having the crossover and all, makes me particularly sure that we have Acotar5 with azriel's pov. it's really interesting that sjm pulled the whole crossover thing, maybe foreshadowing why we get azriel next.
