In the end, I really liked both Avery and John Paul, hated Jilly (i felt she should have suffered more, but being the sociopath she was, I dont think she was capable of remorse) and felt bad for Carrie.I also think that readers should be forwarned that some of the inside jokes and other references may be lost on you if you don't read Heartbreaker and Mercy first. Killjoy is the fourth mystery novel in the Inspector Ramsay series by Ann Cleeves, author of the Shetland and Vera Stanhope crime series. And this is really a good prequel to the start of the series as you get a sense of why Pippa chose to do her project on Andie Bell's murder case. not to mention pip missed the point of the game, which was to have fun, and it felt as though she didn’t want to interact with any of them despite being their friend. I read many of the reviews written by other members and it seems that a lot of the reviewers were complaining about the very characteristics that define the genre.
