Rituals were designed to protect men from Earth's retribution, and it has been suggested that after the invention of horticulture, humans began to attribute creation to a deity above nature, rather than within it, to a male God rather than a female Goddess.” Isidora Sanger is the nom-de-plume of a retired medical doctor. In this splendid book she demolishes the case for gender identity ideology. Welcome to the blog Isidora. I have just finished reading your book, and found your essays so well researched and well argued that I am happy to recommend them to others who want to look more deeply into this issue.

Have you thought about why, in the UK and Ireland, we can't stop men who identify as women from competing in women's sporting events, becoming Women's Officers and winning 'woman of the year' awards, but women who identify as men still can't inherit peerages or become catholic priests? It's because this ideology you are caught up in is patriarchy on steroids, designed to rig the game even more to women's disadvantage.” Men believe that women were nonvolitional beings, bound to their bodies and their instincts. But studies have shown that mothering is learned; is not instinctive. We learn to mother by being mothered, and creatures that are not mothered cannot do it. Taking care creates love, for a baby, a piece of land, an animal. Men devalue this work, attributing it to mere instinct, ignoring the many women who abandon children or raise them cruelly. Taking responsibility is not instinctual in human beings as it is in other mammals. It is a choice.”

Why did you write it? In 2012 I first noticed men who identified as women starting to abuse feminists online. A woman could not say that women have unique biology and healthcare needs, and that female biology makes women vulnerable to abuse, without being called a “TERF”– which stands for “trans-exclusionary radical feminist”–“bigot” and even “Nazi”.

It certainly is. Speaking as a grassroots, anonymous women’s rights campaigner, it’s far more important that the history is recorded than that every individual contributor is noted. Massive contribution from you! XX People who suffer oppression for their bodies, such as ethnic minorities, women, and the disabled, don't have the luxury to identify out of it. Yet, our institutions continue to promote the belief that the most oppressed group in history consists of healthy and often privileged people - such as white middle class men - who are self identifying into oppressed groups using the phrase 'born in the wrong body'. Thanks to not suffering the same limitations experienced by groups they wish to be part of, they exert immense influence on the regulators and these communities, where they position themselves as leaders and spokespeople. They are then redefining the aims and priorities of these groups and preventing genuine members from freely discussing issues that affect them.”Sporting bodies are supposed to safeguard female athletes and female sport. Instead, too many of them changed their rules to allow male athletes to self-identify into competing 'as women'. These males had the benefit of male puberty - which is irreversible. Men have 30-60 per cent more muscle strength. Yet sporting bodies allowed these men to compete with elite women if they reduced their testosterone levels. Testosterone suppressants only reduce muscle strength by at most 9 per cent. So this treatment cannot remove male sporting advantage. We should support the organisation 'Fair Play for Women', which campaigns to keep men out of women's sports. Gender-reassigned males retain male-pattern criminality. As a result 'trans women' are far more likely to be perpetrators than victims of homicide. Both the Gender Recognition Act and the Equality Act have been systematically misrepresented to justify prioritising gender self-identification over biological sex. LGBT+ lobby groups persuaded institutions that it was 'illegal' to ask for evidence of a Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC) or to question the validity of gender self-identification.

Whole sectors of society have been conditioned to believe that there are “trans people,” as opposed to “people who believe in transgenderism.” Linguistic capture and mission creep are the trans activists’ modus. I do not accept that there is a distinct, objective category of “trans people.”“Trans” describes a subjective, and often impermanent, belief only. Besides that belief, there are autogynephilic men who fetishise femaleness – some of whom immerse so deeply in that porn-fuelled fantasy that they dissociate (“born in the wrong body”) – and there are women and girls in flight from femaleness. Isidora Sanger is a nom de plume of Dr Maja Bowen MBBS, a retired medical doctor who has been writing about gender identity ideology and campaigning for women’s sex-based rights since 2014. She believes policies and medical practices should be based on evidence, not ideology.Fantastic exploration of the tactics used by transactivists to suppress and silence those who question the logic of replacing sex-based rights with gender-based rights. What do you like to read? I read quite widely. I love literary novels but also genre fiction, especially mystery, supernatural and science fiction. Some of my all-time favourite novels are The Wind-up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami, Dictionary of Khazars by Milorad Pavic, The Three Musketeers by Alexander Dumas, Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, Crime and Punishment by Fjodor Dostoyevsky , Dracula by Bram Stoker, Dune by Frank Herbert and The Three-Body Problem trilogy by Liu Cixin. Matriarchy, if it existed, would be identical to patriarchy, with females dominant. Women have wielded great power in the world and have had personal authority over men in their families or communities. But no society has institutionalised female-dominance, a sociopolitical structure giving women authority over men and the right to use force against them. So entrenched is patriarchal thinking, however, that people commonly use the term "Matriarchy" to describe women living free of male authority.” the argument that rape - by violence or deception - is a good method to ensure the survival of the human species has never been convincing. Women, like men, are born with a biological imperative to procreate and they are instinctively equipped to choose males that have a chance of producing the fittest offspring, either due to superior / compatible genetics or a willingness to help raise the young. Taking this choice away from a woman undermines the basic process of mate selection and ultimately works against the survival of the species. Selfish males who sexually coerce women seldom make good fathers and providers. Their violence, neglect, and abandonment creates significant psychological and physical trauma, which is passed on to the next generation, creating a cycle of despair and destructiveness.”
