About this deal

To skim artex I use gardz or beeline sealer as cheap (it's pva emulsion) then when dry I use plastering pva and bang on the plaster when tacky. Having the option of leaving these tiles in place is a solution which is welcomed by many in the trade however it should be remembered that tiles cannot be directly applied to the bonding agent so it is essential that the surface is skimmed before any further work takes place. Do you mean that the blue grit is only covering the raised pattern of the artex and not in the pattern? Before plastering, simply apply one layer of Febond Blue Grit with a roller or brush and allow to dry. You should be ok leaving it 8 weeks before skimming but a coat of pva or even better sbr would be worth it, just make sure to let it dry at least until it is tacky.

Contains a fine aggregate that provides a mechanical key to backgrounds such as plaster, concrete, painted surfaces, textured surfaces and ceramic tiles. When I’m able to work again I’m planning to use multi finish but should I apply another layer Of blue grit before plastering because of the months in between? Containing a fine aggregate, it provides a mechanical key to backgrounds such as plaster, concrete, painted surfaces, textured surfaces and ceramic tiles. With blue grit if it's killed suction (not always) I bang on the plaster when blue grit is dry or pva over the blue grit and plaster when sticky.

My next door neighbour got a young plasterer in and got him to tear down all the artex in the flat and put in a skip. These types of products are ideal for repair, maintenance and improvement projects where difficult surfaces are likely to be encountered and are a perfect solution in tiled bathroom or kitchen areas where the removing of old tiles could cause costly damage to the existing wall behind. Gardz etc is for painting onto plaster before decoration, not before plastering and its not at all cheap and has no benefit over using pva. Ideal for providing a bonding coat for walls prior to plastering, bonding to difficult substrates such as glass, ceramics, MR plasterboard, MDF and other particle boards.

It contains a fine aggregate, provides a mechanical key to backgrounds such as plaster, concrete, painted surfaces, textured surfaces and ceramic tiles. Thst said, it should help you with the biggest problem with skimming artex which is that the water in the skim can soften the artex and make it come away from the ceiling which usually happens just as you are trowling up.Made with fine aggregates, Febond Blue Grit provides extra-grip and a mechanical key to aid plastering onto a wide range of surfaces. Just that someone on here said whatever plaster I put on the ceiling will only be stuck to the last coat of paint used on the ceiling.
